ala Flamenco: Prada, Wide Ruffles and the Fishtail Skirt.

One of my favorite looks this season is flamenco inspired wide ruffle skirts and dresses. This ultra feminine look is either full skirts with wide ruffles or slim pencil fishtail skirts and I adore how Prada has used so much color, making these pieces lively and fun to wear.

With Grace in Your Heart and Flowers in Your Hair...

Today is just one of those spring days where the weather is perfect, green has returned with blossoms and buds on trees and flowers and you want to do is escape your countless responsibilities and sip blueberry iced-tea and put flowers in your hair. Since most of us can't do that, enjoy the following collection..

Styling Inspirations: Red Pants

It's truly rare when pants make you look beautiful. Sure, they can be classic or edgy, cropped with flats like Audrey or slim with pumps and while all of that is pretty, its still very ordinary. I simply love the trend of colorful denim and what it can do in terms of style and flair- I particularly love red pants.

Red Pants Styling Tips:
  • As you can see from all these looks red pants go great with Black, White and Cream. When you find the right pair, start by pairing it with any and all black, white or nude shoes you own.
  • Based on what pairing you like adjust the length of the pants to go with your shoe's height and type by rolling the cuff or hemming if you want a permanent length. No matter what shoe you pick your pants length should make your legs look long and lean (be sure not to cut off at any akward length).
  • Then start pairing with basic tops and layer jackets and jewelry- basics are great because you don't want to overpower the red pants.

Turkish Blue and White

One of my favorite combinations is Turkish Blue and White. It's crisp, clean, yet striking. Luckily this season has plenty blue and white combinations in the form of stripes and prints.

I love the how the simplest two colors can create such a striking, crisp look. It reminds me of Turkish mosaics and pottery which are the origin of this fantastic rich blue and white combo.

Photo of the Day: Marc Jacobs Stripped Dress

I can only think of a few people on this Earth who can make stripes look so glamorous and Marc Jacobs is definitely one of them - making this editorial shot of Laura Blokhina by Sigurd Grunberger for Elle Denmark May 2011 our photo of the day.

Fantastic Pleated Skirts

There's no doubt that one of the biggest trends this season is pleated skirts, I myself have always been a fan but am really enjoying seeing the unique variety and in the moment ways in which pleated skirts are being styled.

Pleated skirts make fashion easy - you always look striking, put together, and above all: unique. You can pair them with flats for a more classic look or keep things edgy by pairing them with chunky wedges and platform wrapped sandals. Keep looking slim by always defining your waist: either wear a fitted top tucked in, or a belt around your natural waist if you are wearing a blouse that sits over the hip like in the first photo with Ruby Aldrige. :)

Here's your Hat, Whats your Hurry..

Between the royal wedding and the Kentucky Derby I've become convinced that all us American gals should wear more hats. And if these recent events haven't given you enough incentive to start let this editorial featuring Rosie Tupper by Andreas Sjodin for Elle Sweden May 2011 serve as yet another hat-wearing inspiration.
I love how this editorial illustrates that you can not only wear hats but that they compliment current fashion. I especially love the Stella McCartney lemon print chiffon dress pairings and the Dolce Gabbana dress and hat pairing. So gorgeous!
