...Love Letters, Tea Dresses, and the 1940s..

Although the 1940s were a difficult time with war, separation and rations,- the love letters and fashion we attribute to that time make it feel so much more of a romantic era. It was a time where women were feminine and even in a time of war found a way to look simply incredible. This fall season the tea dresses, ankle straps, prints, and peter pan collars of the 40s have all made reappearances on the runway from designers like Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton,... and we couldn't be happier.

ASOS Bird Print 40's Tea Dress - $87.80

The 1940s silhouette was semi form fitting and hit below the knee /midi, a combination that when paired with heals created an incredible figure flattering look, that was kept interesting with collars, accessories and prints.. I especially love the bird prints.
You can wear any of these looks with colored tights all through the winter or pair it with a shearling jacket or camel colored coat.
Have a lovely day everyone!

Another part of this look I love are the pony tails. They keep the tea length skirts young and contemporary.
If you aren't very good at wrapping your hair around your ponytail for this look you could always use these Tonytail Wrap hair accessories from Sephora. (Buy it HERE for only $9)
And when the weather gets colder you can complete this look with some lovely long fine leather gloves.
Like these gorgeous Bottega Veneta Long leather gloves.
and now for an open letter:

Dear Anthropologie,
First of all, Ive always loved you. Secondly, I would be eternally grateful if you could kindly send me your beautiful Shifting Buttons skirt in a sz 4. I promise to wear it high on my waist like you and God intended, femininely keep my hands in my skirt pockets whenever I can; keeping only the most lovely things in them, arrange my skirt each time I sit in only the most beautiful way and twirl at every opportunity. By performing this kindest of gestures you will truly make me the happiest girl in the land. -Love, Robin
