..Mod about You..

In the 60s “mod” was about as edgy as it got. The details, patterns, and makeup of 60s mod styling turned everyday looks into statements. The perfect combination of edgy and chic can still be achieved today by adding the right retro touches to any otherwise ordinary look.

You’ll notice that these looks have a rather basic foundation: white, black and patterned /print combinations of the two- you can start by using any such items you already own and pair them together different ways (use these photos as inspiration) and then slowly start adding pieces with color.
Focus on Hair and makeup as they make huge contributions to styling.
Accessories like gloves, hats and earrings can also add a slight 60s vibe to even office attire.

Of course if you need further inspiration just watch Charade or a Bardot flick. ;) Have a lovely day everyone!

A Return to Classics: Black and White

Whenever I get sick of season (cough...winter) I return to the classics.. black and white. The classic combo is always in season and ultra flattering. Luckily, black and white for the Resort and Spring seasons are rich with ornate detail, tailoring, followed by more detail. They aren't your average black and white dresses with underachieving colorblock and average 'graphic' prints. So here are some gorgeous Black and White looks from Resort and Spring lines. Enjoy!
Chanel Resort 2011

Carolina Herrera Spring 2011 RTW - Tailored to fit every curve + love those shoes.
Anna Sui Spring 2011 ...anna never dissapoints

L'Wren Scott Spring 2011 - the shoes, emerald earrings, and waved hair complete this look.

Oscar de La Renta Spring 2011 - Sashes work wonders
Dennis Basso Spring 2011

Natalia Vodianova for Etam Fall 2010 Campaign - I have never seen leather look more lovely. This look is so wearable and sooo gorgeous.
Hope one of these inspired you! Have a lovely day everyone!

Lastly, I saw this Ukranian/Russian Christmas special on Chicago TV a few years ago and although I didn't understand one word of it I loved the girl's fashionable take on traditional Ukranian/ Russian clothes. Her multistrand pink necklace, headband with flowers and ribbon, braids.. her whole look. So with the help of google translate I was able to find a video! Here is Ani Lorak (I believe she is a famous Ukranian singer) in "Вечера на хуторе близ Диканьки" which translates to 'Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka.'

I hope you guys like it- I love fashion from other cultures..
Happy Holidays Everyone! Stay warm :)

Freida Pinto Chanel Inspired Black Chain Swag

Freida Pinto's Chanel dress with black chain swag brooch was absolutely regal and now it looks like you can get a similar black swag at White House Black Market.
Freida Pinto in Chanel:

White House Black Market's Jet Hematite Chain Swag:

From White House Black Market's website:
Elegant crystal-and-chain swag transforms basic dresses, jackets and pants into pièces de résistance. Glass crystals; nickel-free hematite-hued metal. 27". Pin back.
$48.00

Freida's Chanel :
White House Black Market:
Now being that it is only 27 inches, it won't sit as low as Freida's if you pin it to your shoulders, but I can definetly see it having that similar sweeping royal/imperial effect.

It's past Labor Day so a white dress might not be an option right now. For fall you can wear it with a deep red or emerald sheath dress to give it that same regal feel or save it until Spring to wear with a white sheath.
:)
