Style Inspirations: Iconic Black + White

Contrast is an inherit part of life that while rich with intricacies, remains mysterious and captivating.... Such themes of contrast, depth and intrigue are perfectly reflected in black and white photos, which might be the reason why most of us are drawn to them. And if you want a lesson in style you'll find an abundance of inspiration in black and white.

The absence of color allows us to see past trends and into the depth of the photo, forcing us to concentrate on details that might have been overlooked in color. Our eyes are drawn to the folds in a dress rather than its shade, the mood conveyed through lighting and posture, the angles of a face, and the meaning and person behind a given gaze.. all of which are the true foundation of style and beauty.
Have a lovely day everyone

  1. I agree that black and white photos are iconic, there always seems to be true beauty hidden in b&w that is missed in colour shots

  3. These are all so stunning. I think my favorite may be Clémence Poésy for Marie Claire US February 2011 by Tesh. There is something very coquettish and demure about that photograph. :)
