Red is of course, gorgeous head to toe, but what I love most about these looks is that many are layered separates which allow you to mix and match various shades of reds and plums and the colors they play well with like neutrals, teal, mauve, or black, while enjoying the extra warmth of layers!

My favorite look right now is layering berries and violets with each other for a super rich look. If that look is too strong for you you can break up the reds and plums with lighter tones such as pinks, rosey-tones, lilacs and mauves.

Another striking look I'm looking forward to trying is layering these rich berry shades with a similar-hued shoe and then balancing the look with a neutral piece like a cardigan or a faux fur vest like the first photo or a short trench similar to the mauve piece Coco Rocha is wearing in the second.

If you usually don't wear vibrant colors like red - layering is a great way to safely introduce color without stepping too far out your comfort zone with a head to toe red look.

Either way, you can't loose; red is scientifically proven to be the most head-turning color,
and you me- I never argue with science...

Its November and instead of my favorite color being sparkle for all holidays coming up its actually nudes, putty, and camel. All these neutrals can be worn in such a variety of chic ways you really can't lose. From sweaters to layers to solid silk cocktail dresses, you can never go wrong. For me, Blumarine's fall RTW collection is probably the most wearable line of the season- layers of black and nude are the kind of universal chic that's appreciated wherever you go.

I adore layering neutrals upon neutrals and love to complete the look with a unique earring or delicate gold necklace as gold compliments camel and tan like no other.

If you ever find yourself feeling a little dull in neutrals -try adding small pops of color like an incredible burgundy lip or accessory - any gem tone will add a richness to the neutral. You can also add snakeskin prints accessories or nails - one of my favorite accessories right now.

My favorite way to wear leather is with a dress- especially a print or a sheath dress. It's the unexpected combinations like a leather jacket with pearls (first photo) or a leather jacket with a pencil skirt that really create a great look with a touch of edge.

Play with bright/colorful accesoriies especially if your jacket is black or grey. As for hair; soft waves are the perfect combination of feminine and effortless and add to the total cool factor.

And if for some reason you don't want to look too edgy you can create a more contemporary /sophisticated look by pairing leather with neutrals.

There is something absolutely breathtaking about this photo. She is not only beautifully put together but there is a subtle element of pride/dignity to her graceful pose. Her breathtaking, dreamlike surroundings not only add to her grace but depict a moment of absolute peace.

This proves that fashion photography doesn't just have to be about experimental makeup, labels and red soles but can be a true art form that inspires people.

Although the 1940s were a difficult time with war, separation and rations,- the love letters and fashion we attribute to that time make it feel so much more of a romantic era. It was a time where women were feminine and even in a time of war found a way to look simply incredible. This fall season the tea dresses, ankle straps, prints, and peter pan collars of the 40s have all made reappearances on the runway from designers like Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton,... and we couldn't be happier.

The 1940s silhouette was semi form fitting and hit below the knee /midi, a combination that when paired with heals created an incredible figure flattering look, that was kept interesting with collars, accessories and prints.. I especially love the bird prints.

The common styling trick here is to wear Autumn colors but in breathable heat-friendly materials. Its an easy trick that allows you to pair some of your richly colored summer clothes with some of those lightweight fall pieces.

Pick autumn colors like brick red, yellow, burnt orange, and rich green and purple and pair them nude & neutrals.

You’ll notice that these looks have a rather basic foundation: white, black and patterned /print combinations of the two- you can start by using any such items you already own and pair them together different ways (use these photos as inspiration) and then slowly start adding pieces with color.

Focus on Hair and makeup as they make huge contributions to styling.

Accessories like gloves, hats and earrings can also add a slight 60s vibe to even office attire.

Ethereal styling is very simple but what makes this look intriguing is the element of individualism; these shots are striking because the women are wearing very basic pieces with a tremendous amount of confidence and personality. So while your attempting this look- don't try to hard (it will show!), wear only what makes you feel confident and free spirited- this will shine through whatever you wear.

There are many ways to achieve this look; keep layering simple as to not look to put together. Nudes and neutrals are a wonderful place to start and finish- they make anything you pair them with appear more natural and organic. You can also work in white and lace pieces. Add simple accessories like a long pendant necklace and pair with barely there thin gold strappy sandals. Hair is a very important part to this look- waves are wonderful but this is an excellent time to try a shabby chic updo like the 3rd photo with the flowers.

Of course, if you need more inspiration, you could always put on some Florence + the Machine and get completely carried away. ;)

I always seem to reach for red when I'm not quite sure what to wear- something about wearing red always makes you look like you gave a tremendous amount of forethought to your outfit. This fall my favorite shade of red is tomato- a brighter medium red with slight orange tones.

I might be ~~completely~~ partially biased because red happens to be my favorite color but I find that having red on hand is as almost as useful as black. While black makes you look chic and slim, red makes you look bright and vivacious. And the best part is that red, specifically tomato red, is a perfect transition shade.

Sorry we haven't posted recently, between trips to New York, working on our fall collection, and preparing for our move to Philadelphia we have neglected our blog.

It's always exciting to see an editorial with fantastic styling of separates that you can actually wear everyday. Such is the case with this editorial featuring Victoria Lee for L’Officiel Singapore June July 2011 issue.

This ed. is proof that everyday separates can look phenomenal if they are the proper fit.

It also goes to show how important it is to style your hair- I adore how they fit Victoria with dark, rich auburn hair in a curly bob that is more contemporary but with an obvious nod to retro. Taking the time to style your hair differently than your everyday look will not only upgrade your separates from business casual to truly fashionable, but will also add a little excitement and variation to your day..and who doesn't need a little more of that :)

After seeing this editorial I've been inspired to try something new. Youtube tutorials are a great source of hairstyling tutorials and ideas - I particularly love the ingenious expertise of Pixiwoo.

There is surely soon to be a bounty of white lace dresses available in stores- be sure that the one you choose has a defined waist seam so your figure will always remain intact and you will not look a size larger.

Also remember white that dresses love brown belts. If you prefer to wear a cardigan with your dress, yellow and pistachio keep the look cool and breezy, while thin black strappy shoes and a red cardigan will help you channel la dolce vita!

Red Pants Styling Tips:

As you can see from all these looks red pants go great with Black, White and Cream. When you find the right pair, start by pairing it with any and all black, white or nude shoes you own.

Based on what pairing you like adjust the length of the pants to go with your shoe's height and type by rolling the cuff or hemming if you want a permanent length. No matter what shoe you pick your pants length should make your legs look long and lean (be sure not to cut off at any akward length).

Then start pairing with basic tops and layer jackets and jewelry- basics are great because you don't want to overpower the red pants.

The Spring 2011 Campaign for Blanco featuring Bianca Balti proves that even the simplest dress can look incredible with proper styling. I love the use of colorful hoop and chandelier earrings, bracelets, bangles, and belts, and of course Bianca's gorgeous waves.

The reason these looks are so gorgeous despite their simple cuts is because they are all fitted properly. Make sure when you buy any dress, cheap or expensive that it fits you properly. Look at yourself from every angle and make sure you like what you see. If it doesn't fit properly, take it to a tailor for alterations: it hardly costs anything and your dress will fit you like a glove. :)
